If you are considering using a kitchen designer, other than the one included in your house package, then here are 3 points to consider:

1. Plumbing and electrics: Have the plumbing and electrical outlets already been fitted into your new home? If they have, then some of the large kitchen appliances and the sink will be locked into specific positions in your kitchen. If these outlets have not been fixed yet, then you still have time to completely change the layout of your kitchen, if this is what you want to do.
2. Gas outlets: If you want a gas oven or stove, then it is best to make this decision before the foundations are laid and certainly before the walls go up. Retro fitting gas lines is certainly possible, but it is always better if you can install them at the outset.
3. Flooring: One tip is to install your flooring before you install your kitchen cabinets. This is because if you fit the flooring up to the base cabinets and you want to change the layout at a later date, you will have a big hole in the flooring that exactly fits your old cabinetry.
